I wanted to purchase things for 350$ and plan for a CEM60 mount but after such treatment I am taking my business elsewhere. In my naivety I thought that it might be better to support local dealer and all I got was "I am sorry" on the phone.
This cat must have grown fat, since it turns down a new customer at the very door. You can have the best service and advice on the phone but if you turn down somebody who traveled far to visit and do business with you then you loose them.
Checked the opening hours online and set off early morning to visit High Point Scientific in order to make some purchases and get a final information regarding which computerized mount to with.
As other reviewers previously wrote, call this dealer and cross check everything before you move on.
At the very least, get a confirmation that the parts you want are actually in stock, as this store is not upfront on it's website about whether items are actually available or not, and will just take your money, and then tell you 'it's on back-order' after the fact.. (This happened to me, and others if you search reviews). Good stores don't do this kind of practice as a matter of course, so I would recommend looking somewhere else first!
Awesome group to work with! Bought a Nexstar 8SE for my daughter and Dave and Isaac spent hours with me to make sure I purchased the right accessories for the scope. Ran into a few hiccups on the initial set up and they were right to answer all my questions. Overall, High Point is a class act and I’m Looking forward to working with them on my next purchase!
At the door was a number to call and on the other end of the phone I was told that they don't have walk ins on Saturdays. Guys, you must put up a large message in red or highlight somewhere in the fine print that you prefer not to have your customers visit you.
I purchased a mount assuming it was in stock and would deliver quickly. No such luck. Still waiting weeks later. Would have been nice if they told me up front it would be a long wait.
The service and information they provided was above some of the other companies I spoke with, not to mention their prices were great. My family and I had a wonderful experience watching the eclipse with their product, and my kids were able to use them as well. Thank you High Point Scientific.
Think carefully before purchasing from this store..
Did the mistake not to call and double check that they are open nor did I read all the fine print at the page.
Update: Store reached out to me and gave a plausible explanation for my specific situation, and along with an apology, did all they could to make it right.
